Ecclesiastes (meaning the preacher) was written by the world's wisest man, King Solomon, and views things from the standpoint of the best of human wisdom for what is under the sun.

Although a saved man, apart from the revelation of especially the New Testament as to Christ, salvation, Christian living and the glories to follow, life was empty (vanity) even to Solomon, although he expresses glimpses of hope in God.
